Maya birds - Philippine National Bird

The Maya bird was the Philippine National bird, until 1995 when the Philippine Eagle was made the National Bird. I for one do not support the change, and would rather retain these humble little birds as the National bird.

I understand your preference for Maya. But the maya in the picture is a common sparrow and is not endemic to the pHilippines. It is distributed worldwide. I think the Philippine Eagle will represent the Philippines better. But if you will follow the analogy that a Filipino can survive and be good in any part of the world, yes, the lowly Maya will be best to represnt us.

Actually, the Maya bird has never been the Philippines' National Bird. It's the Philippines Oriole. It has the same features except for the red beak and the red eyes. It's habitat is mostly in the Visayas and Mindanao region and is already extinct due to deforestation.
